NFL Playoffs: Chicago Bears Lost the Defensive Edge

... defensively because they would be able to swarm to the ball in record time. Yesterday as smith was running all over them, their ability to swarm to the ball was questionable.

The Panthers also did a great job at picking apart the Bears defense early. The Steelers did much of the same against the Colts by getting to them early. The rustiness of the team off of a bye will not last forever so the Panthers knew to pass the ball early hitting big plays and getting the early touchdown.

November NFL Thoughts

...

Picked up pieces from the sports betting weekend. A pro handicapper told me about an old betting angle started back in the 1970s which relates to the mid-point of the NFL season. According to him, people bet on any team that starts the season 2-6 or worse for the rest of the year, and against any team that starts 6-2 or better. Ever since I was a young chap, I always wanted to play professional football.

In a discussion with T (as I called him) regarding playing at the next level he felt it his duty, to sit me down and have a talk. I wasn't getting the calls I expected from pro teams to play professionally. He felt it was his duty to break the news to me in a soft way by telling me a story. Story telling was one of 'T's' favorite ways of teaching.

Essentially, he was easing me down from perch of playing at the next level. And maybe to hang up my cleats and move on with my life.

You know, soften the blow a bit. Little did he know; he did the opposite.

Here's the story he shared with me.

...Here we are in the lull between the college football regular season and the bowl games. It's nice of the NFL to schedule some games on Saturday to help with our withdrawal.

The game between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was advertised as a great match up. The biggest line ...more
